The objectives of our higher education is to focus research effort on the following fundamental research fields with the intention of adding to both theoretical understanding and industry practices within this new business paradigm. These fields have been chosen because they represent the next generation of important ICT applications for digital ecosystems, business intelligence and cyber engineering and are potential areas for industry and commerce to develop into the international arena as well as provide them with the research and development support that is crucial in gaining a competitive edge in this modern environment. Studies in these fields are distinguished from more general Information Science and Engineering, which are frequently focused on algorithms. They clearly form part of the priority area of frontier technologies and smart information use designated by the ARC (Australia Research Council).
