For a while I was challanging to connection ot My university VPN through Ubuntu 8.10. at today finally it worked! here is step by step tutotrial to connect to Cisco VPN networks (Curtin University) Step1: Use 'Synaptic Package Manager' to install 'network-manager-vpnc' this is Cisco VPN client for linux. Step2: Click on NetworkManager Icon and select 'VPN Connections' then 'Configure VPN' Step3: Click on 'Add'. Step4: Input following infomations in corresponding fileds: Gateway: vpn.curtin.edu.au Group name: Curtin User password: YOUR CURTIN ID PASSWORD Group password: Curtin Username: YOUR CURTIN ID Encryption method: Weak NAT traversal: Cisco UDP. Step4: Save and Click on NetworkManager Icon, 'VPN Connections' and the select your 'VPN connection 1' Step5: Enjoy! To connect to your computer in Curtin univeristy you can use 'Terminal Server Client' program in 'Application > Internet' menu. Remeber you need to know your university computer IP address. The protocol is 'RDP' |
