Yesterday morrning we was going to open the car door I found that the remote for my car immobiliser is not working (Toyota Corolla 97) actually the butten on the remote has been broken. As student I do not wan to pay arm and leg for just fixing that small pice of remote which he in australia is around $100 to $700 to replacing or re-programming the immobiliser unit. So I start googling the internet to find altenative solution. and by combination of some methods that I found in the internet and my own exprience I got it worked! it take more that 4 hours for me to find solution and fix it.

flat batteries or butten problem in old toyota cars are quite common problems, below I put the link to those webpages that I found and also some tips and photos that I took from own remote. I put step by step tutorial on How to open toyota remote case.

As you can see in below photo toyota remote is ovoid black.

In top of remote there are two gray notches.

Put the screwdriver above these notches and twist it.

This will open the case.

Lift the kit and on the back of the kit you can see the battery.

I did not change the battery cuz the problem of my kit was with its butten. you can refer to this link to know how to change battery:
"The battery inside is a lithium 3 V battery, model CR2032. Several manufacturers make this same model. Diameter 20 mm. The battery is soldered on by means of two metal legs that are welded onto the battery. If you can get the exact same type with the legs in the right place, it will help. However, camera shops sell the CR2032 with no legs for about $3 or $4.  Fashion a couple of legs from some thin metal or wire and solder them onto the new battery. Solder them into the circuit board. Note: The + side of the battery goes up. Test the remote control before you glue the case together again."

Note: My remote case was not heat-fused as mentioned in this page so I just simply open it with a help of screwdriver.
Note: Some remotes model got smal screw on the back of the case.
Note: Some mentioned that there is long life battery inside the remote. but some dont!

I wish the above information would be helpful.

I like this article. I have a 2001 Toyota Camry with the same kind of remote. But I got it replaced through a local repairer for about 1.5 USD.
